Mary Alice Reporting –

The 173rd Tuscarawas County Fair officially got underway Sunday evening with a few events, like the crowning of royalty.

Three vied for the queen position with Brianna Burdette, an 11-year member with Mix and Match 4H Club ultimately named to that position.

“It was honestly nerve-wracking. It means the whole entire world. I can remember, the first time I could walk, I was walking sheep, I was walking cows with my grandpa down at the farm. I love agriculture. If I could do it the rest of my life I would.”

Burdette is from Uhrichsville and is a Senior at buckeye Career Center and a member of the FFA Chapter.

Meanwhile, Jonathon Domer, a 12-year member of the 4H Junior Achievers, was named king.

“I’m the first second generation which I feel honored and sometime shocked. Honestly, it’s awesome because hopefully one day my kids will be doing this too, following my footsteps. All I can say is come out support everyone. All these kids worked hard.”

Domer is a senior at Garaway but also attends Buckeye Career Center and is part of the FFA Chapter. His father, Mike Domer, was fair king in 1997.
