Donald L. Fenton, 94 of 13390 Lick Run Road Newcomerstown, passed into a better world on Sunday March 29, 2026 with his family by his side.

Donald was born September 6, 1931, in the family farmhouse on Lick Run Road to the late Walter C. and Elva (Carney) Fenton. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1949 and joined his father and brother George on the farm. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, training as a supply clerk at Fort Lee, Virginia, and was stationed at Camp Darby in Livorno, Italy in the Southern European Task Force. Following discharge in 1956, he returned to the family farming operation and on March 2, 1962, he married Marilyn (Rausch) Courtright and began a wonderful fifty-year union. In 1962, he joined the National Bank of Dover’s Oxford branch in Newcomerstown, beginning a thirty-one-year career in banking. Don was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving many rolls including Sunday school teacher, Luther League advisor, church council, Lay president, and Pastor Call and rebuilding committees. He was a fifty-year member of Buckhorn Grange 1445, and a longtime member of the Newcomerstown Lions Club and Newcomerstown Historical Society. As a young man, he was a nine-year member of 4-H, continuing to serve as advisor of the Buckhorn Buckshots Club for thirty-five years. He was active with many Tuscarawas County youth groups, including 4-H Junior Leadership, Grange Youth, and Farm Bureau Youth, teaching and calling folk dancing and square dancing. He continued to call square dances for many years.

He is survived by his children Kevin (Erma) Fenton, Mark (Kathy) Fenton, and Gary (Heather) Fenton; his grandchildren Sally and Jason Arnold, Ben (Anthony) Fenton, Kari (Jess) Fenton, Zarek Fenton, Chelsea (Eric) Martin, and Caleb (Apryl) Fenton; his great-grandchildren Lyrissa Porter, Chase, Kolton, and Kylia Arnold, Cayson, Asher, Arya, and Elliot Fenton, Faith Martin, and one more on the way; his brothers Robert Fenton and George (Beverly) Fenton; and his good friend and classmate Jeanne; and many other extended family.

Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn Fenton; a grandchild Toni Arnold; his siblings Frances (Glenn) Shaw, Waldo Earl “Pete” (Sara) Fenton; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Fenton.

A visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026. A funeral service will follow on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Broadbeck officiating. Donald will be laid to rest in West Lawn Cemetery.
