Donald Mitchell, 87, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away at his home on Monday, September 30, 2024, after a period of declining health. Born February 28, 1937 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Louis Coy and Georgia Lavina (Adams) Mitchell.

Don grew up in Dennison where he attended Dennison High School prior to proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong Twin City resident with the exception of his military service which included being stationed in Germany. He returned home to a lifelong career as a welder and was the owner and operator of Mitchell’s Welding for many years. He was a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose, Dennison Eagles, and the American Italian Club in Dennison. Don truly loved his work and spent countless hours running his business, but whenever he got the chance, he spent his free time enjoying his favorite hobby – fishing.

On June 9, 1956, Don married the former Shelva Jean Riley who survives him at their home. He is survived by their children, Dale Mitchell, Gala (Walt) Sullivan, Jeff (Tami) Mitchell, and Steve (Christine) Mitchell; grandchildren, Ashley, Lucus, Cody, Trent, Madison, Brayden, and Cayleah; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Kaydence, Wesley, Makenzie, Devon, Hunter, Makena, Nakaya, Cooper, Cole, Dawson, and Laikyn; great-great-granddaughter, Willow; brother, Jack Mitchell; sister, JoAn Wagner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Terry Mitchell, and sister, Pauline “Polly” Carter.

According to Don’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. His family will hold a celebration of his life on a future date. This website will be updated when details are confirmed.
