The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is again supporting food banks throughout the state during this deer season.
With the seven-day deer gun season running through Sunday, ODNR’s Brian Banbury encourages hunters to consider donating their harvested deer for the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program.
There’s a list of participating processors at www.feedingthehungry.org, which includes ones in Tuscarawas, Carroll, Coshocton, and Holmes counties.
The ODNR says one harvested deer provides approximately 50 pounds of venison, which equals about 200 meals.
