Donna Jean Moore, age 84, of New Philadelphia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 3, 2022, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House following a period of declining health.
Born in the family home at Roswell, Ohio on April 3, 1938, Donna was one of three children born to the late Samuel and Alice Hines Moore.
Donna was a 1956 graduate of the former Midvale High School and went on to obtain her Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Education from Kent State University. She spent more than 40 years as an educator and retired as the Curriculum Director for Dover City Schools. Following her retirement, Donna went on to serve the Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community (T-4-C) for nearly a decade.
She had a deep faith in the Lord and was a lifelong member of Holmes Church. She had a great love for her church family. She also served as a lay-speaker for the East Ohio Methodist Conference for many years and enjoyed playing the piano, and spending time with her friends, and her family.
Donna is survived by her nieces and nephews, Gene (Marilyn) Stull, Linda Zesiger, John (Carole) Stull, Jennifer Apanites, Kathy (Don) DeCaprio, LeeAnn (Dane) Delli, and John Moore as well as 12 great-nieces and nephews and their families which also include a local great-niece and her family Nichole (Chad) Merkel and their daughter, Quinn.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her siblings, Alberta (Adrian) Stull and John (Helen) Moore, and a nephew-in-law, Greg Zesiger.
The family will greet guests on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10– Noon in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Roger Warnes will lead a service celebrating Donna’s life beginning at Noon. Burial will follow in the Holmes Church Cemetery. A meal and fellowship will follow in the Holmes Church Social Hall.
