Dorothy C. Casteel, 88, of Newcomerstown, passed away on January 2, 2024, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown. She was born September 19, 1935, in Newcomerstown to the late Paul and Mildred (Stamm) Mardis.
Dorothy graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1953. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church and then later Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown. Dorothy was devoted to her grandkids and great grandkids.
On November 29, 1952, she married Richard E. Casteel who passed away on April 5, 2014. Dorothy is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” (Brenda) Casteel of Newcomerstown; her daughter, Rhonda (Andy) Popadak of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Kristen Casteel, Morgan (Dustin) Nevers, and Molly (Nick) Graziano all of Newcomerstown, and Carra (Colin) Steer of Nashport; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Bexlee, and Paisley; and her lifelong friend, Nancy Hannahs. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Cameron; her sisters, Marjorie Snell and Betty Jean Maxwell.
A private service for Dorothy will be held by the family and interment will take place at West Lawn Cemetery.
