Dorothy Jane (Garrett) Lawver Dyer, 91, of Port Washington, died peacefully at her home Wednesday morning of September 20, 2023, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born at home in Goshen, OH on June 3, 1932, to the late Arthur and Nora (Page) Garrett. She graduated from Gnadenhutten High School in 1950. Dorothy worked as one of the cooks for Indian Valley Schools and retired after twenty-two years. She enjoyed embroidery, reading, church, cooking, going to Florida in February, and loved spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Wayne Dyer of the home, two sons: Ted (Tina) Lawver of Delroy, David (Tammy) Dyer of Port Washington; daughter-in-law Jamie Lawver of Port Washington, eight grandchildren: Erin Lawver, Elizabeth Lawver, Dawn (Keen) Edwards, Jory (Cody) Stull, Kristina Lawver, Zachary Lawver, Karissa Dyer, and Austin Dyer; thirteen great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her first husband Ted Lawver, son and daughter-in-law Dan and Becky Lawver, son Terry Lawver, grandson Cody Allen Lawver, and siblings: Kenneth Garrett, Donald Garrett, and Joann Butler.

Services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut St. 44629. Two hours of visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 A.M. with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Harvey officiating. A burial will follow in the Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Inc., 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
