Dottie Mae Preston, age 82, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio died early Sunday, April 21, 2024, under the care of Lifecare Hospice in Park Village Southside. 

Born in Gnadenhutten, Ohio on July 31, 1941, Dottie was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy E. (Johnson) Rank. 

Dottie graduated in 1959 from Gnadenhutten High School and worked for five years at the former ALSCO plant. Later, she worked as a legal secretary at Goforth and Brian Law Offices for more than 35 years before retiring in 2016. 

On November 2, 1962, Dottie married George T. Preston. Together the couple raised two daughters. 

As a young lady, Dottie attended Frys Valley Moravian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, attending garage sales and auctions, playing the lottery and bingo, and gambling at casinos. Dottie found joy in spending time with her family especially her sister, Linda, and her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, George; their daughters, Pam (Rod) Wilson of Bolivar and Rebecca (Chris) Bagley of Canton; her grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Beitzel, Tanya (Justin) Davis, and Ryan (Angie) Bagley; five great-grandchildren, Octavia, Estelle, Aurora, Austin, and Marielle; and a sister, Linda (Junior) Ebersbach of Newcomerstown as well as many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Michael Bagley, and a sister, Edna Gallion. 

In keeping with Dottie’s wishes, no public visitation or services will take place. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.
