Douglas “Ray” Meldrum, 92, of Dover and long-time resident of Carroll County, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.

Ray was born on March 12, 1930. He was the son of the late Ernest E. and Theo (Akers) Meldrum. He graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1948. Ray was an avid Dover fan and supported the school and athletics throughout the years. He was inducted into the Dover High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

Ray honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from AEP where he worked for many years.

On September 17, 1960, he married Mary Frances “Fran” Meldrum, who preceded him in death on March 25, 2019.

Ray loved spending his time outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed collecting guns and also liked attending car shows. He had won several awards for his antique Ford truck and tractor.

He is survived by his sisters; Willadean Everett of Dover and Edith Bair of New Philadelphia, along with his close friends, Benjamin and Marilyn Shaw.
