Gwen Rummell Reporting –

In the latest Dover council meeting, the city passed its permanent budget for 2024.

The total appropriation for the budget is $72 million.

Two main projects the city will see are paving and phase two of traffic signalization according to Auditor Nicole Stoldt.

“Probably our biggest [project] yet for our paving, we have about $1.1 million that we’re going to use for paving streets, which is huge. Hopefully, we can get a lot done with that. We also have the traffic signalization phase two going on, which will replace and update the rest of the traffic signals in the city.”

In addition, the Dover softball fields will be turfed, several will be redone, and the tennis and basketball courts will be resurfaced.

Stoldt adds the city is working around increasing costs to stay within budget.

“I have to give kudos to our department heads because if things are up, we just don’t do as much. They’re very good about realizing what their budget is and what needs done and what is a want.”

The amount allotted for this year’s budget is in line with previous years.
