Paving is off to a late start in the city of Dover, but officials are confident they can get the work done before the weather gets too bad.
Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the city saved about $200,000 by waiting until later in the season to begin paving. The city’s paving budget is $1 million, covering about 26 roads, comparable to recent years.
Much of the work will be south of the Tuscarawas River around Union Hospital and the Tuscarawas County YMCA. The city will also pave parts of some main roads, including North Wooster Avenue, Davis Street and Slingluff Avenue.
Work started this week on six streets near the YMCA and Union Hospital.
Meanwhile, Dover is finishing up some summer projects, including the installation of a splash pad at the city pool that will open in the spring.
