The community is invited to gather tonight for an evening of reflection, inspiration, and remembrance honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK Day Celebration committee member and New Philadelphia Law Director Marvin Fete says the annual gathering takes place tonight at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Regent Street in Dover.

He told city council the tradition continues as this is the 40th year for the celebration – which has been happening every year after becoming a federal holiday.

The featured speaker for tonight’s event is Kent State Tuscarawas Dean Dr. Brad Bielski, who is expected to speak on the enduring impact of Dr. King’s message and its relevance today.
