Dover’s mayor is again thanking local organizations for making a six-figure donation to the city’s parks.

This time the Rainbow Connection and the Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club are donating close to 120-thousand dollars to expand a playground on Deis Hill Park.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe says that should cover the cost to add some slides, handicap accessible equipment, and other features.

In recent years, Dover has received donations to fund trails, pavilions and other park amenities. Gunnoe says of about 900-thousand dollars in upcoming park projects, about 85 percent is funded by grants and donations.

Meanwhile, construction of new pickleball courts continues at Dover City Park. The city covered most of the 255-thousand-dollar cost but it did receive 90-thousand dollars in private donations.
