Nick McWilliams reporting – Unforeseen expenses are leading to some shifts in the financial department for the city of Dover.

Supplemental appropriations were approved by council Monday night, presented by Auditor Nicole Stoldt.

Among the expenses that need to be allocated are legal fees, vehicle repairs, street lights, a well refurbishing, and more.

“We are now getting to where, after this, we may have to change our master capital allocation, and put more money in our general fund if it continues. Because, like Shane and I talked about, the money tree is getting pretty bare. We’re going to have to be very vigilant from here on out with what we are doing.”

The city is paying two mayor’s salaries, one for Interim Mayor Shane Gunnoe and one for suspended Mayor Richard Homrighausen, who is still going through court proceedings related to criminal charges in the Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas.

The legal fees relate to the city defending itself against multiple suits brought by Homrighausen, which involve the city and various employees.
