Gwen Rummell Reporting –

A structure fire a few blocks away from the Dover Fire Department led to minimal damage.

At 9:43 am, the fire department received a report of smoke coming from 417 E. 4th Street. Captain Brooks Ross says the fire was quickly resolved in the time after the units’ arrival.

“We had the fire under control within about five minutes of us arriving on scene, then we took about another half hour just to make sure we got all the hot spots and got our investigation started. We left the scene almost one hour from when we got dispatched.”

Ross adds that there was no one in the upstairs of the duplex and the downstairs family left after notification by a neighbor.

The origin of the fire was near the exterior steps, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
