Dover’s mayor says 2025 was one of the busiest ever for the city, and he doesn’t expect it to let up into the new year.
Shane Gunnoe called it an incredibly productive year, with around 4 million dollars in infrastructure work around the under-construction Schaeffler plant in north Dover plus the purchase and renovation of the former First Federal Bank building in downtown Dover to make it a new City Hall.
The work around the Schaeffler plant will continue into 2026, with its opening now scheduled for 2026.
Gunnoe believes the city will stay busy. Gunnoe anticipates some more commercial development announcements in the coming year following last year’s news regarding an ALDI grocery store and Taco Bell on Dover’s north side, plus housing developments expected to add more than 100 new homes in Dover.
