Mary Alice Reporting – The city of Dover will replace electric meters at many residences as part of a plan to upgrade all customers’ electric meters.

Officials say the new devices will be beneficial by improving the reliability of service in detecting any power outages. The goal is to minimize any inconveniences; however, there will be about a ten-minute outage during the meter replacement.

The first area to be addressed is between 3rd & Front and Bell Ave & Schaar Drive in the months of June and July 2023.

Staff will carry proper identification and residence do not need to be homes for the installation, as long as, the meter is outdoors and technicians have clear and safe access.

Installations will take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. If a meter is not accessible and a person will not be there during the hours over the next few days, please contact officials at 330-343-6542 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
