Nick McWilliams reporting – Dover City Schools has received recognition for support of military families.
According to a release, all five of the district’s buildings received Purple Star School recognition by the Ohio Department of Education.
The award designates districts that show a commitment to the support of military-connected children and their families.
Superintendent Karie McCrate says that the district accepted the award with pride, and were pleased to see all five schools receive the marks.
In order to earn the award, districts must have a staff liaison for military families that has undergone professional development, who helps inform staff members about needs of military-related students, and must provide resources on the matter.
All five schools will receive a Purple Star plaque for display.
