Nick McWilliams reporting – Quick actions from city of Dover safety forces helped reunite a child with their family.
During Monday night’s council meeting, their work was singled out by Safety Director Gerry Mroczkowski.
He says that a call came in to the police department during the morning hours from a family that a child with autism had walked away from their home on the northern side of the city.
“The Dover Police Department responded immediately and then requested the assistance of the Dover Fire Department, the New Phila Police Department and their K-9, and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and their drone. The child was located safely at 9:07 a.m. at a nearby residence on a swing.”
From the time the initial call came in to the child being located, law enforcement located them in less than a half hour.
Mroczkowski said that all responding units worked well in conjunction with one another, helping bring a positive outcome to a concerning situation.
