School districts around the state received emails claiming to be from a terrorist organization and among them was West Holmes Local and Dover City Schools.
Superintendent Karie McCrate sent a notice out to district families on Friday that noted the principals of Dover High and Dover Avenue were sent the emails, supposedly from a Russian terrorist organization, with claims that explosives had been planted.
Local law enforcement was called and McCrate said in the release that, “they have found no evidence suggesting risk to our local schools or community, there is a heightened awareness.”
West Holmes also sent out the notice with the same information and noted that caution will be used as school remains in regular session.
Police in both areas are expected to increase their security and overall presence around the schools.
