Dr. Daniel W. Peck, 84, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville as a result of heart failure. Born October 10, 1937, in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Burton E. and Florence (Wardell) Peck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. James, and Theodore Peck.

On August 5, 1961, Dan married the former Delores J. Robis who survives him along with their children, David J. (Julie) Peck and Karen M. (Hal) Mager; grandchildren, Ashley and Alex Mager and Shannon and Kevin Peck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a 1955 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before attending The Ohio State University and its College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1962. He then served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii from 1962 to 1965 with the rank of Captain.

Dr. Dan started his local practice of dentistry in 1965 with his brother, Dr. James L. Peck. He then continued in private practice until his retirement after selling his practice to Dr. William P. Davis in 2007. He was a member of the Tuscarawas County Dental Society for which he served as President in 1971, the Ohio Dental Association – serving in its House of Delegates in 1970 and 1972, and the American Dental Association. He was an associate member of the Stark County Dental Association, as well.

Dan was a charter member of the Claymont Jaycees in 1968 and a member of the board of directors for Jaycee Village in Uhrichsville. He was involved in the Miss Clayland Pageant for many years when it was sponsored by the Claymont Jaycees, including as an Assistant Director in 1970, Producer in 1971, and Director in 1972.

Boy Scouts of America was a big part of his youth, and he attained the rank of Eagle Scout with 3 Palm Leaves in 1952. Dan participated in two National Jamborees (Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in 1950 and Irvine Ranch, California in 1953) and also went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Dan was a longtime member of the Clayland Lions Club, serving as the treasurer for many years beginning in 1997. During that time, he was honored as a Melvin Jones Recipient, named a W. R. “Dick” Bryan Knight for Sight, and was inducted into the Ohio Lions District 13-G Hall of Fame. He was also a Life Member of Uhrichsville Elks Lodge #424.

Each day of Dan’s life was informed by his faith as a devoted and active lifelong member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He loved singing in the choir, served as a past Finance Committee Chair and as a Chairman of the Administrative Board, and was a diligent worker and past President for the United Methodist Men.

Pastor Kory Rowland will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, May 27, at Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Dan’s family will receive callers at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 426, Uhrichsville, OH  44683.
