Dr. David Wayne Gennert, 79, of Dover, passed away peacefully in the care of The Diplomat Healthcare Center in North Royalton on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Victor William and Agnes Ann (Holy) Gennert.
After graduating from Brush High School, David continued his formal education at Case Institute of Technology in 1964 where he obtained a degree in Physics. Then, he furthered his education at Ohio University and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, graduating in 1977 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. In March of 1978, David opened his private practice, David Gennert, DDS on North Tuscarawas Avenue in Dover serving the community’s dental needs until retirement in August of 2009.
Professionally, David was a member of the Tuscarawas County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Ohio Dental Society. Additionally, he greatly enjoyed woodworking and his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America in his free time.
David is survived by his children, Tiiu Gennert of Cleveland, Bayard (Melissa) Gennert of Shorewood, MN, and Zara (Glenn Burke) Gennert of Cleveland; former wife, Barbara Brawley Gennert of Dover; grandchildren, Aviana Vivolo; Parker, Westin, and Leighton Gennert; and Caden, Maelin, and Fiana Burke; sister-in-law, Janice Brawley; and brother-in-law, Michael (Debbie) Brawley; and brother, Ronald (Halina) Gennert.

A memorial gathering will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
