Mary Alice Reporting –

A tragic incident occurred in a neighboring county that reminds all to turn around, don’t drown when encountering high water on the road.

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office were notified Wednesday afternoon that a 56-year-old Byesville man was reported missing by family members, who was uncharacteristically not answering his phone.

A search was conducted near his home on Oakwood Road and a short time later Air Support was called in. Members observed a disturbance in the flooded roadway, and soon discovered a completely submerged vehicle. It was removed from the water and the missing man was found deceased inside.

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden reminds all, that no matter how deep the water may appear, turn around and don’t attempt to drive through a flooded roadway as the water current may be too strong to drive through.
