Duane Allen McConnell, 74, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover, Ohio, after a period of declining health. Born September 30, 1950 in Dover, he was a son of the late Charles Edward “Chuck” and Mary Caroline (Kopp) McConnell.

A lifelong Twin City resident, Duane was a 1968 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Duane was a hardworking man who had worn more than a few hats over the years. He had worked as a driver for Pepsi and UPS in New Philadelphia for 25 years, as well as 7 years at Gotch & Co. in Carrollton. For the past several decades, he was the owner and operator of McConnell Lawncare & Landscaping – helping to beautify many of the businesses and public spaces in the Twin Cities. He never hesitated to go out of his way to help anyone he saw in need and will be remembered for his kindness to many. Duane always loved the time that he spent in nature and enjoyed hunting the local hills.

On October 3, 2013, Duane married Mary Jo (Scaffidi) Baumberger-McConnell who preceded him in death on December 13, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” McConnell. Duane will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his son, Chad (Tasha) McConnell; daughter, Brittany (Bryant) Richards; grandchildren, Austin, Angel, and Jase McConnell, Aiden Matthews, and Layla and Emmie Richards; brother, Ron (Donna) McConnell; sister, Barb (Steve) Graef; nieces, Steph Bachman and Lori Shields; and a host of friends.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, at Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Duane’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church.
