Mary Alice Reporting –
The deadline to ensure voter registration was done or updated was on Monday and now early voting beings on this Tuesday.
This is for the special August 8th election where one statewide issue will be on the ballot, so all Tuscarawas County precincts will be open.
Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt says they have had about 225 absentee ballot requests mailed to them. Those will get mailed to those individuals Tuesday, with early voting at the courthouse.
“For the first three weeks, we’re open from 8am to 5pm. Starting the last week, July 31st, we’re open from 7:30 to 7:30, and then Tuesday, August 1st we’re open 7:30am to 8:30pm because Tuesday, August 1st is the last day to request an absentee ballot.”
There will be no in-person voting the day before the election.
She reminds those coming to cast a ballot at the election’s office, or if at a polling location on the 8th, to bring a valid form of identification.
The single issue is a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution.
