Just under a week into early voting for the March 19th primary and ballots are being cast.

As of Monday, February 26th, an increase was noticed of in-person voters and ballots received in the mail.

February 21st began the availability to go to courthouse, and Tuscarawas Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt notes that they sent out 501 absentee ballots.

The week of March 11th, the election office will be open from 7:30am to 7:30pm. On Tuesday the 12th will be the final day to request an absentee ballot and the office is open until 8:30pm.

“And then the last day that we’re open for early voting is on Sunday St. Patrick’s Day. March 17th we will be open from one o’clock to 5pm.”

The primary will decide the contested party candidates who will move to the November general election, with local races including the 51st House of Representatives and 6th congressional district.
