Mary Alice Reporting – The Monday before the election will no longer be open for in-person, early voting.
Changes were signed into Ohio law including the deadline for absentee ballot requests ending four days earlier.
One big change is that early voting at the courthouse used to allow for in-person the Monday before Election Day; however, that was eliminated and the last day will be on Sunday.
Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt explains that they will have hours this weekend.
“Saturday, the 29th, it’s the same as it always is 8am to 4pm. Sunday, April 30th, [voting is] 1pm to 5pm. We don’t not have any voting the Monday before the election here at the courthouse.”
She also reminds that not all precincts are open for the May 2nd Primary due to no issue or candidate, or because of an unopposed race.
