Eddy Eugene Edwards, 72, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, following a period of declining health. Born August 1, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Delbert Carl and Peggy Edith (Staley) Edwards.

Eddy was a lifelong area resident who had grown up in the Rush Community Church of the Nazarene near Uhrichsville and was a 1971 graduate of Claymont High School. From 1974 to 1976, he played semipro football for the Uhrichsville Vikings – a time that he cherished. He spent 22 years working for Alsco in Gnadenhutten before being employed for nearly 20 years by Claymont Public Schools, retiring as a head custodian.

He enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Dennison American Italian Club, Uhrichsville Moose, Dennison Eagles, and Hey Jack Sportsman’s Club; was an avid hunter and fisherman; and was a fierce fan of the Cleveland sports teams, as well as The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Most of all, he treasured the time that he spent with his family – especially his grandchildren whose events always took priority in his schedule.

On May 27, 1989, Eddy married the former Renee Emilia Lint who survives him along with their children, Amy Edwards, Annette (Scott) Buxton, Abigail (Jason) Jackson, and Clay (Alyssa) Edwards, and grandchildren, Colin and Carson Peoples, Krew and Knox Buxton, Nora and Ellis Jackson, and Sadie, Sylvie, and Tate Edwards. Eddy is also survived by his brothers, John (Cathy) Edwards and Thomas (Sandi) Edwards; sister, Sue (Ron) Hoopingarner; mother-in-law, Katherine Lint; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family, including his brothers- and sisters-in-law. Eddy will also be missed by his faithful canine companion (and mowing partner), Dottie. In addition to his parents, Eddy was preceded in death by his brother, Delbert “Dale” Edwards.

Pastor Brett Warkentine will officiate a 4:00 p.m. memorial service on Sunday, October 13, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service. He will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery on a future date. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring Eddy’s memory may be made to Rush Community Church of the Nazarene, 4941 Rush Church Rd. S.E., Uhrichsville, OH  44683 and Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
