Edward F. Specht, 74, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Amberwood Manor in New Philadelphia following an extended illness. Born in Dover on February 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Dayton H. and Elizabeth D. (Boltz) Specht. Edward married the former Virginia R. Wieland on November 11, 1972.

He was a 1965 graduate of Garaway High School and was a member of the marching band and the F.F.A. program also receiving the American F.F.A. award. Edward joined the family farm in Ragersville and served on the Tuscarawas County Fair Board and was president for several terms. He was a member and advisor for 4-H, especially enjoying to show cattle. He is a member of the Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ and held the positions of Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. He also served on the Farm Bureau Board also serving as President,

In addition to his wife Virginia, he is survived by his children Sonya (Steve) Quillin of Stone Creek and Austin (Karen) Specht of New Philadelphia; and grandchildren Henry and Lily Specht and Rance and Sienna Quillin; and a brother Charles (Jean) Specht of Sugarcreek.

Services for Edward will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ at 8831 Crooked Run Rd. SW in Ragersville with Pastors A. Bruce Haltom and Shelly Nordine officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 am until time of service.
