Edward Frederick Miley – loving husband, father, and grandfather – passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a brief illness. Born June 26, 1950, in Dover, he was a son of the late James Willick Miley and Grace Evelyn (Maxwell) Miley.

A 20-year resident of Bolivar, Ed had previously lived in Bowerston throughout his life. He was a 1969 graduate of Conotton Valley High School and had been employed by the Nolan Co. and Simon Duplex in Bowerston for many years. The remainder of Ed’s career was in the maintenance department at G.E. Betz until his retirement in 2014. Ed loved football and was an avid golfer who treasured the times that he spent on the course with his sons, grandsons, and friends.

On January 10, 1970, he married Vicki J. (Mullen) Miley who survives him along with their sons, Jim (Andrea) Miley, Ed (Denise) Miley, and Joey (Michelle) Miley; grandchildren, Zoe (Brandon) Barbera, and Hayley, Zane, Chase, Drew, Zach, and Zander Miley; and great-granddaughters, Raya, Aila, Thea, and Shia Barbera. Ed is also survived by his brother, John Miley, and many nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. His family will celebrate his life on a future date when he will be interred at Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
