Ella Carman Swartzel Jones, 93, of Dover, passed away peacefully in her home, Sunday, April 28, 2024, following a period of declining health.
Born in Lawrence County Ohio on November 21, 1930, Ella was a daughter to the late Herbert S. and Gertrude Mae (Moss) Carman.
Ella is survived by her husband David Jones; daughter, Donna (Terry) VanSickel; grandsons, Kevin (Allyson) Borst, and Mason Swartzel; great-grandchildren, Cory Borst, Lauren Borst, and Olivia Swartzel; brother, William “Bill” Carman; daughter-in-law, Kathy Swartzel; son JP May; and grandson, Emmett May.
In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Swartzel; son, Claude “Gene” Swartzel; brothers, Robert “Bob” Carman, James “Jim” Carman, Richard “Dick” Carman, Clyde Carman, and Herbert “Herb” Carman; and sister, Ruth Wineka.
A graveside service will be held in Woodland Cemetery at 824 Lorain St. Ironton, Ohio on Thursday, May 2, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM.
