A Buckeye Career Center student could be in serious trouble after allegedly making up a school-shooting threat on Tuesday.
New Philadelphia Police Captain Rocky Dusenberry says the 18-year-old told school and law enforcement officials his estranged dad sent him an email threatening to shoot up the school.
It turned out the student made it up because he was upset with his father, according to Dusenberry.
“Turned out, after our investigation, the student actually sent the email to himself is what we determined through the IT department at the school and after interviewing the 18-year-old student.”
Dusenberry says he will forward the report to the county prosecutor’s office.
Buckeye and Strasburg schools briefly went into soft lockdown Tuesday morning until police tracked down the student’s father. Dusenberry says police detained the father at his workplace in Stark County and brought him to the New Philadelphia Police Department for questioning.
