The 42nd Annual Engineer Expo is coming to Kent State University at Tuscarawas.
On Wednesday, February 19th, company representatives will highlight their products and career
opportunities, says Engineering Department Director Paul Dykshoorn.
“Companies come in and they can bring whatever they want. Gradall will bring some of their devices, Battle Motors will bring some of their trucks. Local companies will bring in their things to show what they do for the community but also to talk to students and local people about job possibilities, so it’s a win, win.”
Dykshoorn says over the next three years, more than 1,000 manufacturing technology jobs are projected to be in demand.
“And to fill those we need workers. We have degrees like bachelor’s in engineering technology. We have concentrations in mechanical, electrical, green alternative energy, and also integrative.”
Wednesday expo will also feature the Tuscarawas County bridge-building contest.
“This is an opportunity for middle and high school students to design a bridge and have it tested, and the strongest bridge wins.”
The first and second-place winners have the opportunity to compete in the International Bridge Building Contest.
The free Expo will run from 5 to 7:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center. Find more information on the Kent State Tuscarawas website.
