Tuscarawas county engineer Doug Bachman is beginning his first full term in office.
Bachman served as the Harrison County engineer before being appointed to the position previously held by his father in October 2023. He ran unopposed for re-election and was sworn back in ahead of the New Year.
He’s looking ahead to a couple of major projects coming up, including one that will widen Dover-Zoar Road between the city limits and Schneider’s Crossing Road.
“It’s a project aimed at safety and hoping to prevent accidents and roadway departures.”
Bachman will also be working on specs for a bridge replacement in the Village of Tuscarawas that’s scheduled to go out to bid in 2026.
“Cherry Street, in Tusky, there’s a truss bridge that we’re replacing and doing some realignment of the road.”
Overall, as engineer, Bachman is responsible for maintaining 275 bridges and more than 32-hundred miles of roadway.
