“Take Back Our Children – Online Safety Training” hosted by The Community Center of Southern Tuscarawas

April 17

The Community Center of Southern Tuscarawas is located on Main Street in Port Washington, in partnership with Empower Tusc is holding a public meeting to provide online safety training for parents, educators and anyone concerned with a child’s safety. We all want to keep our kids safe! Unfortunately, online gaming and apps are changing so fast it’s hard for parents to keep up with it. Sheriff Captain Adam Fisher and human trafficking educator Melanie Anderson from Compass, bring all the up-to-date information on how we can guard our kids against online predators, social media bullies and insidious games and apps. Tour the state of the art Hidden in Plain Sight vehicle from Empower Tusc and see if you can spot all the red flags in a simulated teenager’s bedroom. Everyone that tours the HIPS vehicle will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.  We all will discuss the effects of social media on mental health and the rise in suicide rates in teens and young adults. Attendees will take home tips and information provided by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Let’s take back our children from online predators, social media bullies and the brink of suicide! Following the meeting, the Center is welcoming the band, Go Worship; from Missouri to lead an hour of praise and worship. Attendees are welcome to stay for this musical performance.
