Mary Alice Reporting –

A temporary increase in SNAP food benefits will end, according to Ohio Job and Family Services.

In 2021, Congress decided to implement the increase due to the pandemic as each family on assistance was eligible for the maximum amount based upon eligible household members.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, signed into law last week, will end the additional allotment at the end of February.

JFS noted that these additional benefit was given because of the emergency declaration and was not an ongoing benefit for EBT cards.
