Nick McWilliams reporting – The Ohio State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post recently reported a motorcycle fatality in Carroll County.

The Friday morning incident occurred in Monroe Township just before 7 a.m. on County Road 11.

According to a report, 53-year-old Travis Shull of Sherrodsville was traveling eastbound, and attempted to pass a vehicle and tanker truck on a double-yellow line.

While passing, the truck started making a left-hand turn, causing the motorcycle to strike the left front tire. The motorcycle went into a ditch, and Shull was thrown.

He was pronounced dead on scene by Carroll County Coroner Mandal Haas. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.

The county sheriff’s office, Dellroy Fire Department, Sherrodsville Fire Department, and Regional EMS assisted on scene.
