Mary Alice Reporting – This Sunday a section of roadway near downtown Uhrichsville will be closed to allow for a six-hour festival.
It’s the 2nd annual Fiber Arts Festival hosted by the Pindrop Shop and will be located on 3rd Street, between Water and Main Street.
Store Owner Jessika Zontini says the event creates an awareness about the fiber arts and where the material comes from.
“We have a lot of fun with the fiber arts and we just want more people to know about that and be part of it, so we have classes here and all kinds of events. We also have a lot of locally grown fiber that comes from sheep, alpacas, angora rabbits and we want people to see those animals, meet the farmers, see the whole process to see how it goes from raw fleece, to yarn, to a finished item.”
The June 4th event will run from noon until 6pm featuring kids crafts demonstrations, live music, several food trucks, and free classes.
“[Classes with spots still available include] 1:30 crochet, 1:30 yoga, 2:00 macramé, 3:00 knitting, 4:00 macramé, 4:00 yoga, and 5:00 spinning your own yarn. The supplies are included. You get to take stuff home with you. Try something they never tried before and then have so much fun that they got hooked, and that did happen [last year].”
Call 740-224-0700 to reserve a spot for any of the limited space classes. Additional festival details can be found online at www.pindropshop.com or on the businesses Facebook page.
