The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Office is open for a few more days before Tuesday’s primary.
Director David Johnson says early voting is going well for an off-season election.
“We’ve had 1,525 voters to this point in office. We’re averaging around 100 to 180 a day. The mail we have received back 499 already.”
Wednesday was the final day to place an application requesting a mail-in ballot. Johnson points out a new law.
“You have to have your ballot to the board of elections by 7:30 on election night. Even if you put it in the mail it has to arrive on that day for us to count it.”
Residents can place mail-in ballots inside the drop box at the BOE’s office, located at 933 E. High Avenue, in New Philadelphia.
The elections office will be open Friday from 7:30am to 7:30pm, Saturday from 8am to 4pm, and then Sunday, the last day for early voting, from 1 to 5pm.
