Mary Alice Reporting –
Residents will have the chance to meet with fire fighters as they host open house during National Fire Safety Week.
The separate events provide an opportunity for community members to speak with local first responders, see the equipment up close, and tour the fire station.
Uhrichsville’s open house is this evening, 5:30 to 7:30pm, with light refreshments provided.
Coming up on Thursday, the New Philadelphia Fire Department will invite residents, from 5 to 7pm, explains Captain Jim Sholtz, with a live demonstration at 6:00.
“We have some people that are going to help. Several of our firefighters are going to tear apart a car with the Jaws of Life.”
Due to scheduling conflicts, Strasburg Fire Department will have an open house on Wednesday, October 18th, starting at 5:30pm.
As part of Safety Week, firefighters remind homeowners to ensure they have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on all levels of the house.
