There were no injuries in a Wednesday structure fire in Sugarcreek Township.

Sugarcreek Fire Department Assistance Chief Cody Shetler says they were first made aware of the blaze at 6:53am.

“By the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office of a fully engulfed six stall horse barn on Copperhead Road.”

The horses were unharmed.

Shetler says the blaze was contained to the 30 by 30-foot barn.

“There was two other structures on the property: the residences and the another out building/shop. Those were both a couple hundred feet away so there were no exposure concerns of the fire spreading to any of the other buildings.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Assisting on scene was fire departments from Baltic, Dundee, East Holmes, Strasburg, and Winesburg.
