Dover firefighters say an East 13th Street home caught fire Sunday afternoon when the cooking oil on the stove overheated.
The flames spread out of the kitchen and Captain Mike Mosser says the resident was not hurt in the fire that was reported just before 4pm. A cat went missing, and two pet ferrets died. All contents of the home were destroyed.
This followed an earlier call for a tree that struck two homes on East 5th Street. One suffered extensive damage, but nobody was hurt.
Overall, Dover firefighters had about had a dozen calls for lines or tree downs throughout Sunday’s wind advisory. Crews responded to about 20 reports in all of utility lines down across Tuscarawas County.
