A short film will be shown to church attendees this Sunday as part of HOPE Sunday.
Empower Tusc invites religious centers in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties to unit and show the video related to substance abuse and addiction.
Coordinator Jodi Salvo notes that this annual event really began at the height of the opioid epidemic in Ohio and continues as addiction is still a major issue.
“It was an issue that people didn’t understand and there was a lot of stigma around addiction, so that’s where the first HOPE Sunday arised. How can we explain this topic a little bit better, so the very first one was a story from a pastor son who was struggling with addiction.”
This year 143 churches will participate by showing the video “What Hope Does”, which will be a testimony to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
