Nick McWilliams reporting – A man formerly from New Philadelphia received a sentence last week in federal court related to drug trafficking.
On Monday, United States Attorney Eric Olshan announced that 56-year-old Phillip Bonanno received a 70 month sentence for conspiring to distribute and distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
An investigation by the Greater Pittsburgh Safe Streets Task Force led to a federally-approved wiretap in the Greater Pittsburgh area, which unveiled that Bonanno and his nephew Cody Bonanno were sources of supply of meth for distribution, among multiple other suspects currently in custody.
The wiretap found that Bonanno ran much of the drug-related activity from a home in New Phila, and would also travel with his nephew to Western Pennsylvania for distribution.
Bonanno was found to be a part of the Pagans Motorcycle Club in an Ohio Chapter from 2020 to 2022, a motorcycle gang known to distribute large quantities of illicit drugs.
Bonanno is currently incarcerated in the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center.
