Uhrichsville’s Democratic Central Committee has chosen former council member Matt Fox as the new city council president.
Fox, a Democrat who has lived in the city for 24 years, was one of two applicants. The other was at‑large council member Bob Baker, who ran as an independent last fall and is currently listed as a Republican.
The committee had announced ahead of time that candidates must be city Democrats. Chair Martha Campbell says they’re pleased with Fox’s selection.
Fox replaces former council president Buck Cottrell, a Democrat who resigned to take a seat on the Twin City Water and Sewer District Board. Campbell says Fox will need to run in next year’s election if he wants to keep the position, which expires in 2029.
Fox was sworn in as president prior to Thursday night’s council meeting.
