Foster E. Roth, 88, of Tuscarawas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Riverside Manor at Newcomerstown.

A son of the late Glenn and Hazel Modest Gatchel Roth, he was born August 29, 1934 in Gnadenhutten.

After completing his formal education, Foster worked with the former Joy Manufacturing until retirement.

On March 14, 1970, Foster married the love of his life, the late Carole Ann Roth. Carole and Foster walked through this life with a deep passion for one another and their family. Together, they enjoyed life to the fullest whether square dancing, attending their grandchildren’s events, or traveling alongside their family. From Alaska to Cancun and everywhere in between, Foster and Carole cherished their vacations together.

Additionally, Foster loved antique tractors and was the owner of a John Deer L & H, which have been passed down to his sons to enjoy. Foster drove the tractors in parades or was often seen driving them through town for leisure rides, too.

Foster was an avid fan of The Weather Channel, keeping his family informed of upcoming winds and weather fronts. He also was skilled wooden-wheeled roller skater. His family fondly recalls Foster’s ability to make others laugh, even when his personal journey was difficult.

He will be deeply missed and forever treasured by his children, Leona Wolfe of Waynesboro, Tennessee, Nancy (Mike) Gibson of Newcomerstown, Jeff (Jill) Roth of Uhrichsville and Robert (Nicole) Roth of Port Washington; his grandchildren, Ben Wolfe, Corey Lafferty, Rebecca Roth, Brittney Roth and Zachary (Miranda) Bates; his great-grandchildren, Zayne, Zoey, Jade, Lilly, John; his siblings, Freda Swinderman of Dover and Homer Roth of Tuscarawas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Foster was preceded in death by his beloved Carole on November 19, 2019, and his great-grandson, Raven.

A funeral service celebrating Foster’s life will be held on Thursday, March 23 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Gnadenhutten Clay-Union Cemetery.
