Frances Kay Dennis, 83, of Newcomerstown, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehab in Newcomerstown, Ohio.
Kay was born on September 11, 1940, to the late Milton Gossett and Harriet (Murphy) Gosset Smith. She was a 1958 graduate of Port Washington High School. She had various jobs throughout her life; the Baltimore clothing store, the Newcomerstown News, and Home Health Aide at Riverside Manor.
On August 11, 1958, she married Jon D. (Jack) Dennis who passed away on July 7, 2010.
She was a life-long member of the Christ Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, where she was a member of the choir, the hand bell choir and the women’s circle. She loved sewing, square and line dancing, and was an active supporter of 4-H. She was very involved in the Temperance Tavern Museum, the Historical Society, Art’s NCT, and was most recently crowned the Cy Young Senior Queen. She performed with the Victory Canteen Singers at the Museum as well as performing along with her husband in The Follies in Newcomerstown.
She was a beloved and active community member of Newcomerstown as well as her hometown of Port Washington. Kay had a helping heart and was highly involved in the community and church. She served her community with her gifts and her talents. Her presence will be missed.
Kay is survived by her children Kathi (Steven) Galloway of Zanesville, Kevin Dennis of Newcomerstown, Rebecca (Bill) Klies of Chicago; her grandchildren Scott Dennis, Mitchell (Natalie) Dennis, and Jack Klies; her great-grandchildren Emma and Elliott; her siblings Judy Hanshaw of Newcomerstown, Sharon Merritt of Ft. Lauderdale and Lonnie (Ginny) Gossett of Port Washington. She is preceded in death by her daughter Lori Beth Dennis.
Kay was the North Star of our family, and she will be deeply missed. She could light up a room with her smile and her fun loving personality. She was an incredible mother, grandmother and friend.
A memorial service will be held for Kay at a later date.
