Mary Alice Reporting – Community members are invited to join a meeting that will go over the need for a homeless shelter in Tuscarawas County.

The Wednesday, January 4th gathering is to offer a chance for the organization to talk over why they are seeking a change in zoning regulations related to building a new shelter off of Beaver Avenue NE.

Matt Ritzert says this will be an opportunity to hear directly from the Tuscarawas Friends of the Homeless.

“Sometimes there’s a lot of misconceptions about the homeless and the services provided and we want to provide accurate information, and answer questions that community members may have, especially those in the neighborhood where the proposed new shelter may be built.”

The talk starts at 7 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish hall. Among the topics to be discussed includes why a new shelter is needed, and the services they currently offer, with the panel answering any community questions.
