Gary Aubihl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, age 75 of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital from complications of cancer.
Gary was born on December 9, 1948, in New Philadelphia. He was a son of the late David and Lillian (Varadi) Aubihl.
On July 31, 1992, he married Judy Holderbaum Burris and together they have enjoyed 31 years of marriage.
Gary graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1967. He was a diesel mechanic for over 40 years with Western Branch Diesel in Canton, Ohio. In his free time, he enjoyed tractor pulling and was the co-owner of the Playboy Pulling Tractor. He also loved farming and deer hunting. He was also an avid sports fan who loved to attend his grandchildren’s events.
A short paragraph does not adequately define Gary’s life. He was a gentle man, who never shared an unkind word with people. Gary never met a stranger and was able to create memories with each person that passed through his life. Although he worked hard all his life, he also invested in family and created cherished memories that will live on through those who knew him.
Gary is survived by his wife, Judy Aubihl; daughters, Jodi (Eric) Daume, and Ginger (Dan) Williams; step-son, Brent (Aysha) Burris; grandchildren, Henry, Katherine, Samuel, Marlena, and Georgia; step-grandchildren, Kashif, and Mazen; brothers, Kenneth (Lorraine) Aubihl, and Michael (Bonnie) Aubihl; sisters, Charlotte Gibbs and Michele Seldenright; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth (Wayne) Burky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-laws, Ed Gibbs and Jim Seldenright.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
