Gary L. Gentry, 65, of Dover passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Born March 16, 1957, in Princeton, WV, he was a son of Myrtle and Harry Gentry.
As a young man, he was called to enlist with the United States Army and served in Military Police until Honorably discharged. Upon leaving the service he then joined the force at the Dover City Police Dept. where he served his community for 25 years.
A proud member of the Blue Knights Chapter LEMC Ohio XVII – “Flash” lived for joining his brothers and sisters in Blue on their cross country motorcycle rides and, most importantly, their annual charity drives.
He is survived by his children, Justin Gentry of New York, NY, Corey Gentry of Akron, and Taylor Gentry-Dunlap of Canton; his longtime companion, Desiree Arnette of Wooster along with many of her children and grandchildren whom he loved as his own; his brothers, Jim Gentry of Canton, Michael (Michelle) Gentry of Alliance, and Bruce (Barbara) Gentry of San Antonio, TX; his sister Vicky (Denny) Holcomb of Canton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved cat, “Mouse.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Myrtle Gentry; children, Timothy Lee and Tina Marie Gentry; and sister-in-law DaJauna Gentry.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover with a committal service at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH. A Celebration of Life is being planned at a later date.
